Produce Code Stickers-what do the numbers mean? PDF Print E-mail

Well, here's a nut shell on them:

If there is a 4-5 number code starting in 9 it is organic.

If there is a 4-5 number code starting in 8 it is genetically modified.

If there is a 4 number code starting in 4 it is conventional.

If there is a 4 number code starting in 3 it is irradiated.

- A four-digit number applies only to conventionally grown produce, that is, those that were grown with chemical assistance.

- A four-five-digit code that has the first digit 9 pertains to organically grown produce.

- A four-five-digit code kicking off with the number 8 applies only to genetically engineered items, such as seedless grapes.

Why do people think eating seedless anything is ok? How does nature replicate itself without seeds...Mmmm...think Monsanto has anything to do this this? Watch "KING CORN"-then let's talk. ;D
